My favorite Gibbs lure has to be the Polaris Popper

The Polaris Popper is versatile, makes lots of noise and comes in a variety of sizes and colors. I never leave without making sure at least three of these fantastic lures accompany me. However, I've recently become very fond of our new Round Nose Danny as it landed me several fish in the 45 inch range in my last trip to Block Island. I fished the Bunker color as well as yellow in attempt to cover both the "dark" and "light" ends of the spectrum from early morning until noon. With solid cloud cover and a steady 10 to 15 kt Northwest wind the most productive time took place from 6am until 9am. In this photo you can see me along with a nice well fed Bass compliments of the shallow waters off Block Islands Southeast light.

As we approach the fall I always prepare myself for the "mixed bag" whenever I cruise the beaches looking for birds and schools of peanut bunker. From late August to late October the Rhode Island coastline comes alive with schools of feeding Bass, Bluefish and Mr. Bonito. A MUST have for these fish is a 1/2oz limen, or parrot pencil popper.

Wherever I fish, be it offshore at the Canyons, Salt Pond or from the beach at East Matunuck I will always have a Gibbs lure handy to throw knowing its long and proven history for catching big fish when others wont!
